Back in February, two representatives from Friends of African Village Libraries (FAVL) came to Niankorodougou to give a brief training on how library committees function and to help select a librarian. The two representatives, the committee president and I interviewed three candidates for the job and selected a Mr. Moussa Ouattara.
Moussa just finished a two week librarian training in the village of Bereba. He learned how to catalogue books, keep all necessary library records (i.e. track visitors, members, borrowed books and expenditures) and promote library usage among community members. We are in the capital of Ouagadougou at the moment where Moussa is learning how to use a computer for the first time. He can’t wait to open the library and spread his enthusiasm for reading.
A little bit about Moussa:
Moussa is 25 years old and has lived in Niankorodougou all his life. He is married with two children, a 4 yr old girl named Ajara and a 17 month old son named Abdul. In his extra time, Moussa works as a photographer.
